Chosen Children is committed to bringing lasting change by planting seeds of hope and transforming communities’ one child at a time. We envision partnering with families and communities to address challenges and break down barriers that prevent children from thriving physically and emotionally and reaching their full potential.
How We Work
Chosen Children’s desire is to break the cycle of adversity by equipping national leaders and volunteers with the training, structure, and financial resources they are lacking in order to help improve the lives of at risk children in their communities.
What We do
Because we believe in the value of every child, providing means for them to receive the basic necessities of food, clean water, shelter and education is our way of laying the foundation for a brighter future. We also support families and communities to put sustainable changes into practice that will have a lasting impact on the health and well being of their children.
The desire to help vulnerable children in Africa was birthed in the heart of Renuka Jeyanayagam long before her first endeavor into humanitarian work in Africa in 2005. Having seen firsthand both the great need and effect of even the smallest gesture of help in a life of an orphan, Renuka’s compassion and faith motivated her to encourage, support and empower national pastors and volunteers who desired to be change makers in their communities in Mozambique. During the early days of their work from 2005-2012, Renuka and Joseph Jeyanayagam experienced for themselves what it is like to be empowered and encouraged by opportunities given to them by those who believed in their vision to make a difference in the lives of children. Wanting others to experience this same hope plus their deepening commitment to caring for orphans has led them to found Chosen Children in 2012.
