Luisa Luis and her brood of 6 children and two grandchildren are no strangers at Grace Center. She and her family sought shelter at the Center in 2021 after her home collapsed and left her homeless. With no home or piece of land to call their own, and many mouths to feed, Luisa was in a desperate situation. Chosen Children decided to support her as a cook for a short time, till she was able build a temporary shelter on the piece of land that was bought for her. After a year and a half of employment, the ministry staff felt it was necessary for the family to be able to help Luisa raise funds for daily living.
With the help of an experienced staff member, Luisa and her elder sons began training to set up a small stall on the side of the road. Supplies were bought for $200, recorded and packaged in small quantities to make it affordable for the community to purchase items. Weekly accountable meetings are held with Luisa and her sons to help them navigate the intricacies of running a business. We are happy to report the family is thriving with their new responsibilities and wish them continued success.
